There have been several guys as of late who have been building their own decoys. Lets see those pictures!

Here's Doug the wonder squirrel. I have to say the use of a decoy really gives you the ability to get into position for the shot. I was hunting with a new hunter this last week and movement was an issue, but when the coyote clued in on Doug, he really put the distress screams with a visual and was convinced that he was about to get a free meal...unfortunately, he may have had too much lead in his diet.
Doug has a rotational motor inside the leopard/zebra ball. It takes one AA battery. To activate the decoy, you need to unscrew one half of the ball and flip a switch. The motor has a lead counter balance that makes the ball cavitate. The attached squirrel jumps around as the motor cavitates. I attached a few hobby white feathers to the squirrel tail and covered the ball...Doug is born!

I'll have to get some pics of Wendy tonight. I'm not sure how well she's gonna work since she's neon green. I may go a different route...

Ok, I had a long talk with WAYNE and he is extremely upset that I am putting his picture in the "UGLY DECOY" thread. But we worked out a deal.

So where is Wendy?? I haven't had time to screw with her yet. So far she is just a neon green hippo with rabbit ears. Soreloser gave me that rabbit bloodied arrow, so I'll go get a spring this week and try to finish her up. I gotta get some feathers from Sport Chalet on the way home. I'm gonna hit Walmart and see if that cat toy will work. |

I too want to see this decoy. You haven't let much out of the bag as to the design specs...
