Any other shot shell reloaders out there? I've got a press and normally only load shot shells about once a year. Typically that is 3" stuff for crows!

I don't reload as many shotshells as I used to but I still have two presses.

I've got two old Mec 600 Jr's and a Ponsness/Warren. I used to load tons of shells when I shot trap competitively. I'll have to break out some of the old buckles I won shooting. I was always going to frame them. Then a lot of them I destroyed taking the gold coins out of them when the price of gold hit $800 an ounce back in the day.

I gave away my MEC 600 Jr 20 gauge reloader but I still have a HydroMEC for 12 ga. I had it factory refurbished a while back but just don't use it much anymore. I can buy shells at Wal Mart cheaper than I can reload.
At the beginning of every bird season I take stock and usually order a flat each of duck and goose loads and whatever I need for upland. I have a case of 20 ga 3" 1 1/4 oz 6's and some 1 1/4 oz 2 3/4" 6's for pheasants, chukar and huns. Sometimes I even get to go hunting! Not sure what this season holds. My lab died last spring and I haven't had the heart to replace her. I'm getting invites and have accepted but my old dog was the best and I miss her. |

When I started reloading, I told my mom that I could shoot more for the same money, or cost less for the shooting I did. I believed it, too. Now, I shoot so I can reload. For shotshell loading, I have a Lee pocket kit, a Lee Load-all, and a MEC 600. They are for loading in small amounts, for special purposes. For trap-shooting, where there needs to be a lot of ammo of one type, I use a MEC 750. Repeat after me..."This is cheaper." My mom believed it and since it must be true if she thought so, I continued buying more tools and components. Now my grandkids are almost old enough to go shooting(and reloading)

For the money and the price of lead shot now a days, it just does not pay to reload for my trap and skeet shooting anymore. With the newer Federal ammo available at Walmart, it is just too good and cheaper to spend the money on lead shot.

I still load a little 3" stuff for crows. If I didn't have the reloader already I don't think I'd mess with it.

My loader only handles 3" stuff and I keep considering an inexpensive unit which I can use for loading up 3 1/2" stuff for coyotes and turkeys. Any suggestions?

Yep, still got it. Tucked away in a cabinet in the garage. It's a Mec loader, but I can't remember what model it is. I still have a bunch of components left, wads, shot etc. etc. Maybe one of these days I'll break it out and play around with it.
