Coming soon to your local smog shop - evaporative recovery system check - expected to fail 10-90% of older cars and force the replacement of miles of tubing.

Smog tests and particulate standards for diesels and motocycles are also included in the latest upgrade.

My '83 GMC passed with <25% of maximum allowable pollutants yesterday - but will need to have the evap system inspected before the new regulations go into effect.

Adding new tests at the smog shops is sure to take an extra $5-$20 per car or truck out of your pocket every other year.

Just requiring an inspection for diesels is going to create a LOT of revenue for the state. No doubt they were looking for a way to imposes inspection fee's on them.

Gary, I would bet that the $5.-$20. is very conservative.
