So I helped 'ol Jeph out and sorta brokered a deal on a Bushnell 3200 Elite with the firefly reticle. It arrived today in the mail and I am sitting here waiting for it to get dark so I can give this reticle a test drive!
Has anyone else had any experience with this reticle? Here is the scope.

I just took it outside and played with it for a bit in the dark. Very cool stuff. Those cross hairs are lit up in green.

Does it run off a battery, or a flashlight stuck in the end? I'm not familiar with it.

You "charge" it by shining the beam from a flashlight into the scope and on the cross hairs. The charge is supposed to last up to an hour.

If the charge will last that long, that is pretty cool. A quick charge now and then would be easy to do. If it lasts that long it could be done between stands. Let us know how long it actually lasts. Effectively lasts, that is.

It just takes a few seconds from a flash light to make it work, too. Charging it every couple hours at the end of the stand would keep you in good shape. I'm giving Jeph his scope today so perhaps he can get a picture of the illuminated reticle once he tests it out.

I hope it works better than the dial on my watch.

Thanks for picking that up for me Heath.
Since I am notorius for ALWAYS leaving my illuminated reticle lit, and looking for a lower power scope for night work anyhow, I figured the firefly reticle would work great. Heath found this at a steal and I hope it works as good as I am thinking it will. As much as I love my Nikons, the eye relief is just too small for me. My eyes are screwed up, and my old Bushnell always worked great. I hope I have the same experience as before. I'll post of pics of the reticle when I get a chance. |

I bought a New Bushnell Elite 4200 4-16X40 for my latest airgun. It just felt better.

I passed the scope off to Jeph yesterday. He said something about how he couldn't wait to go home and spoon with his wife so I don't know if he played with that Firefly reticle or not.

I didn't have a flashlight handy, so I just held it up to my kitchen lite....and it worked. I'm gonna mount it Monday probably and start messing with some pics of the reticle |

I am interested in one of these scopes. Is there a fine cross hair between the reticle, or just an open space? Any other reports?

Yes, there is a fine cross hair in there, my camera just didn't do a very good job of showing it. I was actually very impressed with it and the eye relief it had. It would be a great scope for a predator rifle.
